Pictures, Jan’s Cows

So we have...Latte, Cafe’, Milk, Crema, Paloma, and Ella
Eric, the young Vacero who takes care of Jan’s cows.  He knows them well!

JAN’s COWS!

Did you know that Jan owns cows?  It is a respected, popular, and often lucrative venture.  The rich, green topography of the Chiapas mountains lends itself to the raising of hardy cattle.
Her cows are in the village of Sibal, being tended in the beautiful, rolling hills and pastures there, by a brother in the church.  He is Francisco, and his son Eric is in charge of caring for her cows. They are hardy, the initial 2 cows having birthed 7 calves in 4 years.  And the line goes on!
Here is how it goes.....
In the beginning,
there was PALOMA.  She was the first to be purchased.
Then LATTE was purchased a few months later.
PALOMA begat FEET, and ELLA (SHE), and most recently, MILK, one each year for the last 3 years.
FEET was named such, as he had a common type of birth defect like a club foot.  It was splinted, casted, and he grew to be an active, healthy young bull.  He was sold when he was about 2.
ELLA (SHE) remains on the ranch.
MILK is about 2 years old.
PALOMA herself is pregnant again!
LATTE begat CREMA, and EL(HE), and most recently, CAFE’.
         CREMA appears to be pregnant.
         EL was sold .
CAFE’ is the newest in the family.  He is a healthy brown bull, born in the spring.

A Bull in Francisco’s other herd is the father to all these cows.  Cows can easily birth many calves, yearly.  They often still are nursing while pregnant.
AMEN.

THROUGH THE CLOUDS.....

January 24, 2019
Well, on my way to Chiapas this night, some thoughts came to mind...as they always do!  The weather was frigid cold the night I left Chicago.  It had snowed and snowed.   Even up to 4 hours before I left, it was still snowing.  I was excited, but more nervous.  I find this is so, the older I get!  Do I have everything?  Can I close my bag?  Can I carry my bag?  Will the taxi driver come? (He is new..). Will he drive safe?  Will the roads be treacherous?  Will the weather delay my flights?  Will the family miss me?  Will they care that I am gone?  Will there be weather, or troubles in Tuxtla?  Will I have enough purpose there?  Will God really keep me safe?  Why don’t I trust him more?
Well, there were moments.  The thick cloud cover between Mexico City and Tuxtla caused turbulence, not violent, but enough to cause my nervousness to notch up.  As we came down, over and through those mountain ranges, bouncing and sliding back and forth, we popped through those clouds and hit the single runway perfectly!  Wow.  I had traveled through time, through continents, through cultures, and here I am again!
Isn’t it like this with life?  Nervousness, failure to trust, challenges, fear, excitement, new horizons, and finally popping through the dark clouds into calm, and peace.
Here I am Lord, if you need me.  I have heard you calling in the night....
