The last post was not complete....I am still challenged by the capabilities of these devices!! First it posted too soon,,. then it didn't post my additions and corrections.... I will overcome!
I wanted to express gratitude and great love to the people who love me and put their trust in what I do. The love and prayers and donations are deeply appreciated. The beautiful sendoff/commissioning at church, with those friends, and my whole family laying hands on me was powerful. I go with a full heart.
My next note will be from Chiapas! We leave early Sat. Sept. 28, and will arrive in Ocosingo late into the night. Sunday will be a day of worship, making up our beds, unpacking the tons of supplies we carry, orientation and preparation for the week ahead. Monday, the patients come!
Adios, for now!

Finding myself....
I read a little quote the other day. It said, "The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in service to others." I like that. I hope to do just that during my time in Chiapas. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!
My bags ARE packed now, and I am SO ready to go! I am gathering the toothbrushes, vitamins, tylenol, eye glasses and planning some projects for the quiet evenings after the sun sets. Light is limited and bedtime comes early But having time to read everything, sounds delicious! I hope to delve into a novel and read til the book is done. I have mission books to read, nursing journals to peruse, and more intense Bible reading I have an article to write, and nursing guidelines to develop. I am even bringing photos and pages to scrap while I am there! Lofty goals after a long day of seeing patients!
I am extracting myself from work, winding down my patient load. I will miss the cancer patients that I see every day. But the time has come. Work at the Cancer Treatment center is intense, and relentless. My department will change by the time I get back. Please pray for my partner and co-worker. She will take the bulk of my patients. Her mom died very unexpectedly last week. She is hurtingThis respite in Chiapas, being with the missionaries who have given their lives to The Lord, and in service to their own people, will be refreshing. The Tzeltal people are gracious, humble, and ever so grateful just for someone "to come."
